Registration Questions
How do I register a team with the Badger Revion?
Contact the region office to get a handbook or download from the "Forms" page: Junior Club Director's Handbook for a junior team; and, Adult Player's Handbook for an adult team. The handbook will give you all the information as well as the forms you will need to register your team.
Our team is already registered for the season with the Badger Region. Can we add players during the season?
Yes, as long as the player(s) has not played for any other team during the current season. You just need to have the individual complete a membership form and send it to the region office, along with the appropriate membership fee.
Can a female play on a men's team (or vice-versa)?
No, a female cannot play on a men's team. Likewise, a male cannot play on a female team.
When do we have to register by to play in Badger Region Tournaments?
It is best to register your team approximately 10-14 days prior to the tournament. This will allow the region office enough time to register your team members and get their USAV membership numbers back to you for submission to the tournament director. However, it may be possible to
register your team on shorter notice. For exceptions, contact the region office.

Tournament Questions
How do I enter my team in tournaments?
The major portion of the junior tournament schedule is available in the fall. The adult tournament schedule in early January. If you are an adult team rep, it is important to contact the region office, to get on the mailing list for tournament information. If you are a junior teamyou need to contact the Junior Development Representative. The tournament director will send you information on the tournament and an entry form.
Contact the tournament director listed on the tournament schedule. He/she will send you an entry form. Complete the form and send it in as soon as possible. Most tournaments are first-come, first-serve. Therefore, it is important to enter early. However, be sure that you will participate. There are fines and you may forfeit your fee if you drop out. The entry form will include information on your player's names, membership numbers, and uniform numbers.
Can a team play without properly numbered uniforms in a sanctioned Badger Region tournament?
Occasionally, early season tournaments are sanctioned as "Friendship" tournaments. These events give teams, both junior and adult, an opportunity to participate with players other than their regular teammates. Players must wear numbered jerseys, but they do not have to match. Non-matching shorts are also acceptable. Non-regular members can "try-out" USAV for a one-day membership of $5.00. Once the regular season begins, all players must have matching, numbered jerseys.
We will be unable to attend the tournament that we signed up for. What is the refund policy and procedure?
If your team withdraws from a tournament on or prior to the Monday preceding the tournament, no penalty will be assessed. However, you will not be entitled to a refund of your entry fee. You may request a refund from the Tournament Director. If the Director is able to replace your team and not incur any loss from your withdrawal, a refund minus a 20% management fee, should be issued. If your team withdraws later than the Monday preceding the tournament, a $50 fine will be assessed and your entry fee will be forfeited. Also, if your team fails to show up on the tournament date without any prior notice, a $50 fine will be assessed.

Junior Competition Questions
The Junior Medical Release Form has a place on the front to be Notarized. Do we have to have these forms Notarized?
At this time, only the state of Florida requires the medical release to be notorized. If you will be competing in that state, then you need to have them notorized.
What are the Junior age division definitions for the 2008-09 season?

How do I find a team to play on?

Contact the Region’s office in late September or early October to get a list of the clubs’ contact person offering junior programs. Most clubs hold an information meeting in October and tryouts are held in mid-November. The earliest date for Girl's tryouts this year is Saturday, November 14th. Coaching Questions
What is CAP certification?
CAP is an acronym for Coaching Accreditation Program. CAP is a program through USAV and offers five levels. Badger Region offers Levels I and II every other year. Level I and II are for coaches of all kinds: colleges, junior clubs, high schools, middle schools, or anyone who wants to advance their coaching knowledge.
Level I topics include: effective teaching methods; organizing and administering a program; innovative drills and practice design; developing playing systems; and, observing and applying the methods presented. Level I requires 2 days of instruction by USAV CAP cadre and successful completion of two standardized tests. CAP Level I course includes the ASEP study course.
Level II topics include: techniques and tactics to coach the setter, teaching blocking tactics and techniques, teaching the 5-1 and 6-2 offensive systems and developing an effective team communication system; resistance and jump training presented in cooperation with the USOC;
studying effective, responsible methods for coaching social differences within the game. Level II requires 2 1/2 days of instruction, completion of two tests, submission of a 1,000 word original manuscript within 12 weeks of course completion, and attendance or instruction at a minimum of one non-CAP coaching clinic after the Level II course attendance. Academic credit is available through the University of Colorado for Levels I, II, and III. This applies for graduate and under graduate credit. Courses are one full credit. Level III, IV and V are designed to begin understanding of national and international experiences. Contact USAV for information on these courses.
What is IMPACT?
IMPACT is Increased Mastery and Professional Application of Coaching Theory. It is a one-half day course provided by trained clinicians in Badger Region. Emphasis is on drill development, principles of learning skills, resources, athlete safety, legal and moral responsibilities, and ethics. It is the minimum requirement for any coach in the USAV Junior
Program. Courses are offered November through February of each season.

Board of Directors Information
When and where are board meetings held?
According to our By-laws, the board must meet at least 4 times per year. They usually meet once per quarter. Meetings are held throughout the state but are usually held in SE Wisconsin. Click here to view the board meeting schedule.
How do you become a board member?
Nominations are requested in January and February, prior to elections at the Annual Meeting in March or April. You must be a member of USAV/Badger Region in good standing. If you are interested in becoming a board member, please call the region office at 414-443-1011 and let us know you are interested and we will inform the next nominating committee.
